The Australian College of Veterinary Scientists would like to draw your attention to the annual awards that the College offers to veterinarians. Two of these, namely the College Prize and the Ian Clunies Ross Memorial Award, are designed to acknowledge the achievements of individual veterinarians, not necessarily members of the College, who have made significant contributions to the profession in a number of areas or fields.
The Council of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists seeks nominations for these awards. The closing date for all Awards is 28 February 2010.
The Annual General Meeting of the profession will be held at Dubbo RSL Club on 17 November 2009 starting at 7:30pm.

The NSW Minister for Primary Industries, the Hon. Ian Macdonald has appointed the following members to the Board, commencing 1 July 2009 for a three year period.
Dr Jim Rodger (Specialist AVA), Dr Deborah Neutze (AVA), Dr Ruth Thompson (AVA), Dr Merran Govendir (Sydney Uni), Dr Andrew Hansen (Minister appointment), Dr Mark Simpson (Minister appointment), Mrs Angela Haynes (Consumer rep) and Mrs Christine White (Consumer rep).
Dr Ruth Thompson was elected by the Board members as the President of the Board.
Practitioners who have not submitted their Annual Return or paid their registration fee were removed from the register by the Board on 10 July 2009 – to view these veterinarians, go to ‘Vet Search’ on this home page and then ‘register update’.
Invoices and Annual Returns were posted out on 7 April 2009.
Payment for registration renewals and submission of the annual return are due by 31 May 2009.
Payment and annual return must be made in order to retain registration – both transactions can be made through this website using website reference number located at the top right hand corner of both the invoice and annual return.

Hospital Licence renewals were posted 23 April 2009.
The Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria have advised that NRVR, has been delayed and is now not expected to be passed by the Victorian Parliament until the Autumn 2009 sitting.
This means that contrary to earlier advice, all veterinary practitioners wishing to practise in Victoria from 1 January 2009 must register in Victoria to do so
The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust awards Fellowships each year. The purpose of the Fellowships is to study or investigate projects overseas of a kind that is not fully available in Australia. The application window for 2008 opens 1 November 2008 and closes on 27 February 2009
