Hospital licence forms

The Board has recently updated its Application for a Veterinary Hospital Licence and Application to Transfer a Veterinary Hospital Licence forms.  The updated forms address the following important points based on the legislative requirements for hospitals:

2017 June - The nuts and bolts of building, buying or selling a veterinary hospital

Hospital licences

If you are performing a procedure that according to current standards should not be undertaken without the administration of an anaesthetic, other than a local anaesthetic, and including a spinal anaesthetic, then you need to perform this procedure (defined as ‘major surgery’) at a licensed hospital.

There are exceptions for emergencies, if it is impractical to move the animal, or if it is dangerous to the health of the animal for it to be moved.

2016 December - Keeping hospital information up-to-date

The Board is currently reviewing its hospital database to make it easier for licence holders to ensure information made available to the public is up-to-date.

In 2017, the Board will provide hospital licence holders with the opportunity to check that the licence details held by the Board remain current.  These details include the licence holder, veterinarians with percentage controlling interest, details of the superintendent and contact details.
