Changes to vaccination requirements for authorised workers in LGAs of concern in Greater Sydney


Over the weekend, the NSW Government announced changes to requirements for vaccination of authorised workers who live in local government areas (LGAs) of concern in Greater Sydney and need to travel outside of these for work:

Would you like to debrief about ethically challenging situations in veterinary settings?

 

As part of a PhD study, Anne Quain (Sydney School of Veterinary Science) is facilitating ethics rounds – similar to morbidity and mortality rounds or critical incident analysis, with a focus on ethically challenging situations.


Participants would be required to complete an anonymous, online survey (this will take 5-7 minutes), participate in a session of ethics rounds (approximately 90 minutes or 1.5 hours), then complete an anonymous, online survey (estimated to take 5-7 minutes).

Travelling to Queensland – border is closed:

 

A new class exemption for farmers and agribusiness is now available for workers to move across the Queensland border until 11:59pm 20 August 2021.

The class exemption is only for movement associated with performing essential agribusiness services for the agriculture supply chain or farming activities, including the care of livestock.

COVID-19 Restrictions for NSW 18 July 2021


Greater Sydney restrictions now apply until 11.59 pm Friday 30 July and are available from the NSW Government website COVID-19 rules.

Importantly, people employed to provide veterinary services are considered to be authorised workers.

Veterinary emergency and critical care (ECC) is a rapidly expanding field in veterinary medicine.

However, despite the myriad of ways to triage patients in emergency situations, reports on usage frequency of these triage tools are minimal to none.

Our study aims to focus on describing the usage of 2 types of triage tools: shock index and point of care ultrasound, then comparing the usage by general practitioners and veterinarians with advanced ECC training.
